Allan Jaggard

Allan Jaggard started Racing in 1972 and by 1974 won the Junior Championship in the Molson’s Ontario Motocross Series. Then in 1975 he won the Senior Class in the Molson’s series and came in second in the Laurentide Series. In 1976, his first year as an expert he placed 4th in the Molson series. After good success over the next four years He competed in the 1980 Canadian Nationals and achieved National #8.

“1977,1978, 1979 I had fairly good success but suffered lots of nagging injuries (79 was 5 broken neck vertebrae, hence the VIC TANNYS sponsorship and in 1980 I rode the complete Canadian Nationals and achieved National #8. In 1981 at 24 years old my Season ended at the Montreal Supercross after I crashed under the Jumbotron and Scott Lockhart ran over I leg and broke it, so ending my season early.

I never  raced again untill 1987 when I turned 30. This was the year the CMA began Age related Vet Racing and I came back for the first inaugural race at Copetown riding a HONDA XR250! I got 5th and stated after the race that if I had a real Motocross Bike I would have done a lot better. Well I got a SUZUKI motocross bike initially and then raced all the way up to 2008 without incident or injury until I came up short on the Walton Natural Double and broke my back while trying to defend my 2007 +50 Ontario Championship. Previously in 2000 I won the +40 Ontario Championship.

After my 2008 broken back I took 18 months to recover, came back and then only raced special events and Vintage Motocross.

My highlight of Vintage was racing Brad Lackey in a 1996 ARHMA event in Florida in both +30 & +40 PRO and I could do no wrong that day and won all 4 Moto’s. I have the photos too of Brad Lackey presenting me the winning Plaques and all he said to me on the podium was “you ride too many classes” Lol.

I still ride all the time doing Trials , Motocross, Trail Riding, Adventure riding with my partner Anne on our Beemers and still loving it at 66 years old.
