The LOCMX display was requested to this event by Buddy Ford who was gathering as many of the past Quebec legends. Getting the display there was not a problem this time as Glen Nicholson offered his truck and trailer as he wanted badly to attend because he spent many years racing in Quebec. Jay Kimber who has always been supportive of my LOCMX project. As you can imagine the 8 hour trip was totally consumed with stories we all had about racing in Quebec.
Ross Pederson was to be the main guest for this event but had to drop out because of sickness. In his absence two of his old race bikes and the clothing he would have worn were on display. Her was missed and definitely was subject of many conversation.
The track gave us a great location for the tent by the start gate and the display was put up in the barn where it was easy for people to come and go during the weekend. Saturday was a practice day and it gave everyone some time to socialize and those who were going to race time on the track which was long. Lap times for most of the Vets was over 2 minutes. The track was in good condition and a light rain fell a couple times which kept the dust down.
Saturday evening the track put on a sit down meal and we used that time to sell raffle tickets for the tree collectible items we we offering. We had a KTM race T-shirt with the 2016 Championship winning team signatures, A Ross Pederson signed T-Shirt and a Signed Roger Decoster Print from the 1976 500cc MX GP held at Mosport. Support was amazing and I have to thank Buddy’s girlfriend Francine who helped my selling the tickets as my french is non existent. we did really well and raised $970.00 which will be very helpful to paying bills and keeping the website alive. We made up a new display panel with all of the Quebec Legends which will be left at the track for future events. Of course all of the legends who came out signed their pictures.
On Sunday the racing was constant with all of the usual Vet Classes attended. Serge Gregoire dominated the plus 60 class with Mario Paquette and Buddy Ford in pursuit. In the plus 50 class was dominated by Marc Dionne and Guy Giroux
